Getting Here

The Olympic Peninsula is approximately 2 hours Northwest from the Seattle Area. We are also a 1 hour 30 minute ferry crossing (car and/or passenger) from Victoria, BC. There are several options for getting here:

Travel by air to Seattle Airport, rent a car and drive to Peninsula.

Travel from downtown Victoria to downtown Port Angeles via the COHO ferry. No need to bring a car if you are traveling from Vancouver Island. Driving Directions:
It is easy to get to Port Angeles from Seattle and other Puget Sound locations - just use our directions below.
Visitors driving from the Seattle area have two options: taking the car ferry across Puget Sound (30 minute ride) and driving North on the Peninsula (1 hour 30 minutes) or "driving around" through Tacoma (2 hours 15 minutes driving time) with no ferry crossing.
Part of the Pacific Northwest experience is riding the ferry. Although it may take more time (ferry wait) it is very enjoyable (less driving).
Directions from Seattle and points east via Bainbridge Ferry:
From Seattle via Bainbridge Ferry. Follow highways 305 to 3 to 104 to 101
around Sequim. Port Angeles is 15 miles west of Sequim on highway 101.
Travel Time: 2 hours and 45 minutes
Directions from SeaTac Airport/Tacoma and all points south via I-5:
Follow Interstate 5 to the Bremerton Exit (highway 16 North).
Continue through
Port Orchard and Bremerton where you will merge on to Hwy 3 North. Follow
Hwy 3 through Silverdale. Hwy 3 merges into Hwy 104. Continue on
Hwy 104 across the Hood Canal Bridge. Next take Hwy 101 toward
Sequim/Port Angeles.
Travel Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes
Directions from Bellingham (Vancouver, B.C.):
NOTE: PLEASE CHECK WASHINGTON STATE FERRY SCHEDULES PRIOR TO TRAVEL.
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE PORT TOWNSEND FERRY MAY NOT BE IN SERVICE AND IT IS
THEREFORE ADVISED TO TAKE THE EDMONDS FERRY.

For Port Townsend Ferry: Take Interstate 5 south to the WA HWY 20, Anacortes Exit (Exit 230). Follow WA-20 west for 11 miles to stoplight intersection and turn left to continue on WA-20 to Oak Harbor. Turn right to continue on WA-20 to Keystone/Port Townsend Ferry. From Port Townsend ferry doc turn left on Water Street which will become WA-20, but watch road signs as there is an intersection just outside of Port Townsend where you need to turn right to continue on WA-20. Continue along bay to US-101 West. Turn right on US-101 and continue 35 miles to Port Angeles. Travel Time from Bellingham: 3 hours
For
Edmonds Ferry: Take Interstate 5 South and follow ferry signs.
Crossing time is 30 minutes to Kingston. From Kingston follow
directions to Hood Canal Bridge and then Port Angeles.
Directions from the West:
From Forks, or Aberdeen follow highway 101 into Port Angeles.
Travel Time: From Forks 1 hour
From Clallam Bay/Sekiu follow highway 112 to 101 into Port Angeles.
Travel Time: 1 hour
Getting Around/Places to Stay:
Port Angeles is a small, friendly town with a downtown core offering hotels, shopping and restaurants. If you are staying downtown, you can do without a car since all of the marathon activities happen within easy walking distance, but you will need a car if you plan to stay longer for sightseeing and vacation.
Clallam transit (public bus) and taxi service are available.
